!! World’s Best Golf Destination 2019 Nominees !!

Argentina has always been one of the most popular countries to visit in South America and planning your next golf trip here I think is to be included in your next priorities. From the atmosphere of Buenos Aires, to natural beauties like the Iguazu waterfalls and the Perito Moreno glacier in Patagonia, ending with the vineyards of Mendoza and the delicious meat: the country has something to offer everyone.

Organizing your next golf trip in Argentina means making one thousand trips in one and having the impression of crossing different countries moving from north to south and from east to west. And this also means having the certainty of finding yourself making the trip best suited to your tastes, your expectations, your desires.

Why organize your golf trip in Argentina

Wonder of nature: The Iguazu waterfalls are probably the most famous and spectacular waterfalls in the world, as well as the Perito Moreno is for the glaciers, all in one country that goes from the lush forests in the north east, to the desert landscapes in the north west to end with the Pampas and Patagonia to the south

Buenos Aires: Considered the “Paris of South America” it is a truly fascinating city where European culture meets the South American one. It is considered the world capital of tango and here there are beautiful neighborhoods such as Palermo, one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world and much more.

Meat and wine: Argentina holds second place for the largest consumer of meat per capita and it is not just any meat. Argentine meat is in fact considered among the best in the world. Most of the wine production is concentrated in Mendoza, here there are world-class wines such as the famous Malbec but also Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Curiosities: The highest and lowest point in all of South America are found in Argentina: At 6960 meters the Aconcagua near Mendoza is in fact the highest peak of all the Americas while the Laguna del Carbón in Patagonia 105 meters below the sea level is the lowest point.

When to organize your golf trip in Argentina

Given the size of the country it would be a mistake to talk about the climate in general but there is a period that undoubtedly represents the best one for your next golf trip in Argentina: spring. During the spring period from September to November the climate is excellent everywhere with the sole exception of the extreme south where it could still be a bit cold but far less crowded with tourists.

For the Patagonia and the peaks of the Andes, like the Aconcagua, the best period is certainly the summer that goes from December to February. During this period the north of the country is extremely rainy and in Buenos Aires it is very hot and humid.

Autumn from March to April is a good time to visit the Patagonia emptied by tourists and reddish colors and the wine region where it is harvested.

The Travel Insurance

!! Absolutely fundamental, always any trip you make, below I point out two opportunities

RoamRight travel insurance

Documents and vaccinations to enter Argentina

Generally you receive a tourist visa for 90 days when you enter the country. I generally say because every nation of origin could have its own rules. Better inform yourself via the Web where you can easily find any updated information on the subject. Argentina does not require any mandatory vaccination, but Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B are recommended.

What To Eat And Whar TO Drink During a Golf Trip In Argentina

There are so many things you can eat and drink in Argentina. If you are a lover of local products, but above all you are a true fan of the discovery of typical and traditional dishes, you will lose your head. Grilled meat, red wine, tasty panzerotti like the empanadas – that will attract you at all hours of the day and night – energy infusions, coconut … there is really the embarrassment of the choice.

ASADO: A LOT OF MEAT COOKED WITH BBQ: The Argentinian dish par excellence is the asado that literally means “barbecued”. Asado is grilled meat, a dish that brought Spanish colonists to South America. Today knowing how to cook meat in this way, giving it a unique and exceptional flavor, is a source of pride: Argentines love to meet at the weekend, or during the holidays, spending time together with music, wine and chatter, eating asado. Typical asado meats depend on the area: for example in Buenos Aires it is common to have beef (vaca), pork sausage, chicken, beef sirloin (bife de chorizo) and morcilla, a kind of spreadable liver sausage ; in the north there is often lamb (cordero) or llama; towards Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, the specialty is cordero.

LE EMPANADAS: FROM SALTED TO SWEET – Surely you have already eaten in some South American restaurants. Usually the empanadas are dumplings stuffed with spicy minced meat, cheese or vegetables, but in Argentina there is also a sweet variant that wants them with quince, raisins, sweet potato dough with a thick layer of cinnamon on top. The empanadas are an ancient dish: they were brought by the Arabs first in Europe and then in Argentina and throughout Latin America following the colonization.

YERBA MATE: A DRINK OF HERBS AND CAFFEINE AND MANY SMILES. What do you drink in Argentina? First of all yerba mate, a herbal and caffeine drink. The first to use these herbs were the indigenous peoples of South America. Ernesto Che Guevara is said to have taken an infusion of Erba Mate leaves to treat the ailments caused by asthma. In the treatment of the drink the leaves are dried, chopped and passed into a powder, to then be immersed in hot water. The infusion has many beneficial properties: it helps to regain energy, to relax, to digest. In Argentina it is possible to take the drink following the special ritual that was practiced by the Indians of the Guarani tribes: it is only necessary to obtain a container, called mate or matero, and a special straw, the bombilla. Through these instruments, after having covered the leaves with boiling water and having waited a few minutes, it is possible to drink the infusion without having to filter it.

ALFAJORES: SOFT SWEETS WITH ECCENTRIC TASTE. Do you know the macarons? The Argentine ones are slightly more bulky and colorful! The alfajor are very soft and creamy cakes, practically two biscuits joined by a sweet filling, enhanced by the taste of grated coconut, which fills the mouth completely, and bathed in chocolate, icing or powdered sugar. They were born around the 1950s in Mar del Plata and from there they spread throughout the country.

GOLF COURSES IN ARGENTINA

Argentina is a vast territory. To facilitate the organization of your Golf Trip in this wonderful country, I divided Argentina into areas where the best Golf Course is included. Starting from the North and progressively descending towards the South.

SAN MIGUEL de TUCUMAN GOLF COURSES Zone.

Some tips on golf courses:

  • To book the Tee Time, it is best to send an email to the secretary of the Golf Club you have chosen, asking for availability, obviously indicating the day and an indicative time. You can find the e-mail address by opening the Golf Club website from “Open website” and then searching for “contacts” or some Golf Clubs have the form to fill out to get the Tee Time. I think it’s better to send an email to the Secretariat. Opens Google Map at the point of the Golf Club. You can have the necessary information to reach the playing field or to know the distances for example from the Hotel you have chosen for the stay.
